Here are the answers to some frequently asked questions. Call us if you cannot find the answer you need.

Can I put a skip on the road or grass verge outside my house?

Yes, you can but we need permission from the council to place a skip on the road or grass verge. We arrange this for you as we have the correct insurance in place, though the council does charge for this, and do normally require at least 3 full working days notice.

What if I dont want the skip on my drive, but I cannot gain a permit for the highways?

We can provide a ‘Wait & Load’ service. Our driver will wait for 30 minutes as standard to allow you to load the skip. Please contact us to discuss this option further.

What is the standard sized skip?

The most popular skip is the 8yd builders skip, these are the most cost effective for larger projects, though we can offer advice on which skip would be best suited for your individual needs.

How full can you fill a skip?

Skips should be loaded level with the top, this is for safety reasons and under no circumstances should extension sides be used.

How long can I keep the skip for?

The standard hire is 14 days, though we wait for a phone call from you to arrange collection. If the skip is there longer than 14 days we will usually give you a call to see how you are getting on and if needed, additional hire can be arranged.

Does the price change depending how long I keep the skip for?

The price is the same whether you have the skip for 1 day or 14 days. The hire period can be extended beyond 14 days at an additional cost.

How much notice do we need to give?

We can usually provide a same day service depending on the time of your call. We aim to deliver and exchange skips within a few hours of your call depending on time and location, collections are done at our earliest convenience but should be done within 48 hours.

Can I put anything in the skip?

The following types of waste cannot be put in a skip;

• Asbestos
• Modern Fibre Cement Bonded Products (non-asbestos) that visually look like asbestos
• Hazardous Waste
• Fluorescent Light Tubes
• Any Liquids, Including Oils and Paints
• Tyres
• Fridges/Freezers
